Co-ordinate Reference System for Revit

I have 2 DXF files that I wish to bring I wish to bring into Revit, one is the buildings around a site, and the other is the site building. Is there a way to import them into Revit but have them align correctly with co-ordinates that should be in the DXF file, unless I am mistaken and DXF files do not save your CRS.

I don't have a point to align it to, so I'd like to know if there is a method that automatically does it for me somehow

Hi

Create a Revit file for Site/Surrounding Buildings..

Model boundary lines etc and import / link DXF file here...

now use this file as linked in the project...

so rather than CAD/DXF file linking directly which is not going

to help you with any coordinates and alignment, use another

linked REVIT file to act like a base file  / reference

( use levels, survey point etc )

hope that helps.

Why not Link them into Revit and Acquire Coordinates?

I'm not sure I understand the solution here.

We Acquire Coordinates from dxfs all the time and we link in dxfs by Shared Coordinates all the time.  It's called Shared Positioning (a.k.a. Shared Sites).  Why is it necessary to jump through a bunch of hoops here?

Answer: it isn't necessary.
