Close Hidden Windows Function Not Working in Revit 2019.1 update

Hello everyone. I updated to Revit 2019.1 yesterday and have discovered that the "close hidden windows" feature is either no longer an option or it no longer works in this release. I have to now manually close all inactive windows with the "X" on each tab. While this is not terribkle it certainly was easier witht he "Close hiden windows" button.

I do not see in the release notes where this is noted as a disabled or removed feature. (http://blogs.autodesk.com/revit/2018/08/15/revit-2019-1-new-features-in-the-latest-release/?_ga=2.18...)

Any help explaining where it was moved to or why it was removed from the app is appreciated.

Please try the solution on this article: How to reset the Autodesk Revit ribbon, toolbar, and browser to default settings and let me know if this helps!

I tested the reset UI on Revit 2019.1 and it works. See image below:

I had the same problem. I solved it by creating keyboard shortcut for (Close Inactive Views)

Go to file – Options- User Interface- Click on Customize for Keyboard shortcut- search for Close Inactive Views- Assign new key (for example CI) – Click OK.

Now once you type CI on the Keyboard, it will do the same job.

For all other responses to my issue I thank you as well. I was not clear in my initial question that the "close inactive windows" on the quick access bar was the one that disappeared and that I was looking for after the update. Thank you for all of your responses.

I ran across this thread trying to find the answer to why the close hidden/inactive windows wasn't in the quick access toolbar.  Another approach to getting it back on to the QAT besides resetting your UI is to go to the view tab and right click on the close inactive tool and choose "Add to Quick Access Toolbar".  The problem, however, with doing that is that the QAT is a fixed width item when above the ribbon. Even though there is plenty of room for an additional button for most users, added buttons end up on the fast forward looking button. Would be nice if either users had some input on the allowed width of the above ribbon QAT or if the UI had the intelligence to estimate the usable free space available based on screen resolution and to adjust.

ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED, YOU RATHER DANCED AROUND THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WITH SOME OTHER GIBBERISH. IN ESSENCE, THE LATEST UPDATE IS A FEW STEPS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION

Even we have faced this issue and added new command but We have another method to see "CLose Hidden Window" in quick access toolbar.
Please find the attached step by step process to setup it might help you.

Thank you G.Sivakrishna, Viveka's answer on 8/24 that I marked as solved, solved the problem of my "Close Hidden Windows" button not showing up on the Quick access tool bar in Revit 2019. This solved my issue but apparently others have been unable to get that remedy to work for them. Hopefully your post will assist those other users who unsuccessfully tried the repair she prescribed.

I thanked her because it was the solution for the issue I had with my installation.

I used the batch utility Viveka posted and it worked on the first attempt for my issue.

I would suggest you download it try it again. Another solution may be to install the latest Revit 2019 update available on your subscription or maintenance page. Another solution may be to try G. Sivakrishna response on 10/30/2018, this may work for you.

I understand your frustration with the developers constantly changing the program away from ways we are used to. There is a site where you can add program suggestions when you think of something that may be useful to the application or request something be put back the way it was.d

Sometimes the issues are specific to a user/ machine and other configurations.

This solve the problem reseting the use interface without needing other "workarounds".
