Changing to Stacked Wall - Family Curtain Wall?

Hello! 

Does anyone know the code voodoo behind this warning? 

I'm changing a normal wall type to a stacked wall type. The warning is "Switching wall type to Family Curtain Wall. All Dimension References to the side faces of the Wall will be deleted." A quick Google search doesn't help much. Does anyone know if there is a workaround to keep the dimensions?

No you cannot keep the dimensions unless you place reference planes aligned with the wall and dimension to those instead of a layer/face/end/cl of the basic walls. 

Deleting the reference element which the dimension is associated with  subsequently deletes the dimension as well. Same concept when u delete a wall with inserts hosted in it. The inserts are gone when the host is gone.

Ahh, so it's technically a deletion because of the change of system family type? I was thinking because it's still under the wall types, it wouldn't be considered an actual deletion. That does make sense. 

Do you know where the "Family Curtain Wall" comes from? Are stacked walls considered a type of curtain wall?

the stacked wall in itself is not a wall type but a system which is hosting multiple walls in it…it functions very similar, if not the same, to when you unpin the curtain panel in a curtain wall and assign a basic wall to it instead a curtain panel…as a matter of fact, many users do not use Stacked walls but instead use curtain walls and substitute the panels with basic walls
