I am trying to place a wall-mounted PTZ camera but the reference plane/host is at on the side rather than the back of it, so it's being mounted sideways. How can I rotate it in the family or change the host/plane to be in the right place?
Need to see how the Family is built, but can you Edit Family and Check Work Plane-Based, Uncheck Always Vertical and then reload it into Project and place it on a NAMED Reference Plane Work Plane?
I just notice you said "wall-mounted". So, it's a Wall Hosted Family. You could convert it. Post it here and I'll convert it. Or, better yet, download and install PyRevit (free). It has a Convert Family to Face -Hosted tool.
