Change parametric and nested family to a static family

Hello all,

For an assignment at work I've created quite an complex family with a lot of different variables (parameters) and nestings.

Because we are the manufacturer of this product I want to use this family to sent to clients of ours so they can use this family in their models.

But this family now contains a lot of information about te product we make and I don't want to share all of this information.

So my question is, if there is a fast way to convert this family from a parametric nested family to a non parametric family preffered without nestings.

(and I was hoping that the file size would also reduce a lot because the family is now approximately 35 mb)

Have you considered exporting this family to 3D dwg solid and then importing it back to Revit?

Thank you for the response, but I allready tried this option and it works but the biggest issue with this one is that I lose all the materials when I export to dwg.

OK, how about IFC export/import then?

Thanks I just tried that. But unfortunatelly Revit can't load ifc files in families. (Also can't export from .rfa files, but I loaded the family in a project first)

And when I load one into a project I can't get to the family editor because of the IFC.

the clean option is to save as and remove items and nestings as you reduce the family's parametric behavior..

Family 1 has 5 nested families and a series of Parametrers 

1. save as rename, and remove 1 nested family and adjust the parameters accordingly,

2. repeat steps 4 more times. or until you get the result you are looking for.
