Change orientation of model

I guess this is considered basic knowledge but I simply can't get it working.

My project is a 3D model of a factory and it is upside down and sideways as I open it in Revit.

I have tried to change the orientation by right clicking on the navigation cube and "Save View"  and "Set Current View as Home". This works for this session, but as I save the project, exit Revit, and open it again, the same weird upsidedown-sideway-view is back again.

Would anyone kindly help me understand how I can permanently change the orientation of my building?

Are you talking about saving a thumbnail view? Save As: Options: Thumbnail Preview: Source Preview: (pick a view from drop-down): OK: Save.

Just delete that 3D view and click on the 3D button on teh ribbon to create a new one {3D} which will be set to default orientation.

I´m not sure if I´have understood you well,

A) If you want that your plan views aligns with the proper orientation then one solution could be:

- Change the project north orientation.
- In properties palette of a plan view, set view orientation to project north.
All of your plan views oriented to project north will be rotated and aligned with this direction.

B) If you want to rotate one of your plan views, then other solution could be just selecting the crop region edge and rotate it.

C) If you want to set the orientation in a 3D view, then yo can apply some of this solutions:

- Invoke contextual menu over Viewcube on a 3D view.
- Choose the proper orientation type: view, plane or direction, and choose one available.

- Other way yo can free orbit your 3D view and then lock it.
