Change Family Category

Dear All,

I am trying to change elements from  "Structural Foundation" category into "Generic Model" category. But I cannot and the error message appears.

I would appreciate anyone helps to try to solve this issue, find a solution or just explain to me why it is not possible. Thanks

...2340 instances? Why do you need to change category?

Can you explain exactly what you are doing?  The Error is bazaar to me.  What more does it say when you click on "Expand>>"?

It is 52-floor building and 2340- supporting brackets on the slab.

I need to change the category because the main client asked. Maybe they need this for coordination...

Don't think that will work and it seems like that's the question to begin with tbh. What you could do maybe is nest the SF family in a generic model but then you'd have to replace all of them... but perhaps there's a Dynamo script to do that instead of (re)placing them one by one because that's not really a good option...

Editing family doesn't work.

Maybe I could find some help with dynamo.

But maybe it is possible to do that in IFC? like IFC options and then select that this category will be exported as Generic Models?
