Centerline on Dimensions Strings for Annotation Symbols

Does anyone know how to get a dimension string to register a centerline for an annotation symbol without placing it in a detail component?

See the attached image- notice the fire alarm horn symbol's dimension string does not have a centerline, and I can't seem to get the reference line in the family to be a centerline. The two grouped outlets on either side are annotation symbols in detail items, which is why their centerlines register.

After selecting the dimension go to Edit Type > Graphics Tab > CenterLine Symbol > Select the "Centerline" from drop down menu.

Thanks for your response. The dimension type I am using actually already has a centerline symbol selected- the three dimension strings in my attached image are the exact same type, but the issue is that the annotation symbol's (the one centered on the wall) reference plane cannot be designated as a centerline. I was hoping that there was some way to get the dimension string to register a centerline within an annotation family, as it can do within a detail family.

No I do not think it is possible. You can not create new reference planes inside annotations and can not name them. The center line is triggered by assigning the parameter "Is Reference" the Center (Left/Right). This function is greyed out in the annotation family.

Also nesting other families is limited to annotation families. Therfore I see no option to accomplisch what you want.

But then, assigning centerline symbol to annotation, not seen it before.

No. You would have to nest the annotation symbol in a detail component just as you had predicted.

Well that is unfortunate. But thanks all for the answers- guess I'll just keep manually placing the CL symbol.
