Casework Family Issues

Hey everyone,
I'm having some difficulties with this casework family I made, and I was hoping someone would know how to resolve them. I've included some screenshots, as well as a project file containing the family.
Here we go!
The casework family is built in 3 parts (nested families). First, the Kicker (which is a basic extrusion), second the structure, and third the door(s). Each nested family has their individual instance parameters that are then controlled by the casework family (linked parameters).
The extrusions from the structure's nested family is set to "not visible in Plan/RCP". In this family, I added a Masking Region with "Hidden Lines Projection", in order to only see the outline of the casework in hidden lines. When inserted into a project, the structure of the block works flawlessly - showing the outlines of the casework with hidden lines in plan view, both when there is a counter above it or not.
I followed the same procedure for the door's nested family, but here's where I encounter issues. The door shows up as hidden lines in plan view, but the lines do not appear through (or above) the counter..
I'm going mad trying to understand why, and I know it must be something ridiculous!
The next question I have is in regards to labeling nested families. I would like to be able to select via drop-down menu the "door type". In other words, I'd use the single door I've already made to create other door combinations:
- 1 door
- 2 doors
- 2 drawers
- 3 drawers
Whenever I insert a second door, it seems to break the parameters of the first door. Is it because I'm nesting the first door into the second one?
I appreciate and thank you for taking to time to answer me.
Kind regards,
Matt
