Cant Draw a Model Line

I am having trouble getting a model line drawn on the bottom of a wall that protrudes out from the main wall. (1) below is the model line I have successfully been able to draw on the main face of the wall. (2) is the face of the wall that I want to draw the continuation of the model line, but when I try to set the face of the protruding wall as the work plane, the plane is setting at the back of the wall (3). (4) is where the model line I want on the front protruding base is ending up, i.e., at the back face of the wall. Why can’t I select the yellow face and make it active?

Hmmmm.... I tried similar and get the same problem. Even though I set the workplane by selecting the outer face, it seems to actually draw on the origin plane of the wall sweep.

Easiest solution is to make a reference lined up to that desired surface and draw your model line on it.

Well, I'm not having any luck doing that. I guess it's detail line time.

Can you do that element with the Wall Sweep tool instead of adding the sweep to the wall type? Drawing on the plane of that sweep works all the time if the element is created with the wall sweep tool.

Two draw model lines on built in wall sweeps there are two methods

Method 1 - On reference planes and place them on workplane

  1. Place (vertical) ref plane where the line should be on the Elevation (Marked in black - below Image)
  2. open the lateral Elevation where u see the section of the sweep
  3. start the model line tool and select the vertical ref plane
  4. use pick lines and pick the edges of the sweep
  5. Model lines will be placed on the ref plane where u Need them
  6. draw the ones above and below on the wall

You may delete the vertical ref plane later the line will remain

Method 2 - Convert the wall to parts

  1. Select wall and convert to parts
  2. Change view to Show parts
  3. Use model line tool and pick faces of the sweep to place the lines on the faces sweep and wall
  4. Switch view to Show original again

Edit: See Image below done using both methods (marked red done on work plane - marked blue done using parts and pick face)
