Vanishing ViewCube

In Revit 2017 after you Export anything the viewcube disappears from all 3D views.

Is there a workaround to keep this from happening or fix the issue? Currently after every export we have to shutdown the program and restart which is a massive waste of time. Our whole office is having this issue (20+ computers)

Yes, the viewcube is turned on under View -> User Interface.

Yes, it was present before the export.

Thank you for your replies @ennujozlagam. It did make me aware that I had updates that needed to be installed. Unfortunately, the updates did not resolve the issue. I also tried unchecking the hardware acceleration. I got an error about the .ini being locked, but the setting seemed to stick. This also did not keep the view cube around.

Upon opening a project, the cube is sometimes turned off (50/50 not sure why). This happened and I did an export, then went to turn the cube on. Still not there.

Along with the cube missing, I also lack the close and minimize buttons in the top right of the current view when maximized. Although they are not visible, they can still be activated if you click in the proper place.

For standard opening a project and exporting I have attached some images:

Attachment 1 is before export

Attachment 2 is after export

Attachment 3 are viewcube setting after export

Apparently attachments do not attach in the order you place them...

Capture1.jpg is before
Capture.jpg is after
Capture2.jpg shows the settings at the time of "Capture.jpg"

@jacob  hello, are you using 4k resolution screen? if yes lower your screen resolution. Can you please try to change window display setting to 150%-200% if this works. thanks

I have a similar problem on all 10 Revit workstations at my office. After an export of anything (CAD, image, DWF), no more view cube or min/max buttons until I restart Revit. View cube is unchecked in Options and User Interface pull down. Re-checking does nothing. Viewcube is always on when starting Revit

I'm running Win 7 64 and Quadro cards on all 10 machines. Mine is an M4000. I tried adjusting res, rolling back driver, and turning off hardware acceleration. Nothing. I have SP2 for Revit 2017.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this may be a software bug that requires a hotfix. Am I missing something?

I just installed the 2017.1 update. The issue remains.

I just noticed that if I right-click where the ViewCube should be, I get the pop-up menu. Also, the min/max buttons work. I can't see them, but they work.

I had not noticed that you could right click the cube area and get the drop down box.

Just tried it, and you are correct.

I have the same issue with the view cube and close/max/min in the top right corner. The buttons are still there and can be selected, you just have to have good aim. 🙂 Please patch Autodesk! I am using a 4k monitor. Someone mentioned there may be an issue there.

Hi all,

Having the same issue ourselves. A quick fix for the minute if the cube disappears after export is to re-export as normal but then cancel the export.

You will then get the ribbon back for the cube.

Hope this helps in the interim and saves having to close down and reopen

The same was happening to us in our office but the issue is not there anymore on the 2018 release.
