I am trying to place interior elevations on plan view but when I start the tool it would not let me click on the screen to place the elevation marker. It just shows the mouse cursor but when I click nothing happens, why?

  • If when you try to place it you get a prompt message saying that placed element will not visible, check if the category is invisible on that view
  • Check if you have the option "Attach to Grid" checked... Uncheck it

Are you in a View or on a Sheet? Is it an actual Floor plan view or a 3D top view?

Can you share some screenshot of the plan view and its properties?

At the bar upper left corner when you start the command ...

Edit: If checked, the elevation marker will look and point only at grids. If there are none showing the marker will not show (that option is used mostly when doing framing elevations)

You cannot place an elevation in a plan. You can however plan an elevation on the same sheet as a plan.

Thank you for the reply Tina  🙂 I was placing an interior elevation in the plan view because I was planning to have an elevation view to place on a sheet! But I was not able to because of the attach grid which I did not notice

upon trying the solutions mentioned below by unchecking attach grid , I still couldn't place an elevation on the floor plan.

I tried copying an interior elevation from other file and placed it as required. But again i couldn't create similar nor could copy the same elevation on the floor plan. I ensured all the annotations are checked on visibility settings . Is there any other possible solution to copy OR create similar elevation .

from you clip it would seem to be a visibility issue...check the specific elevation types are visible in this view in visiblity graphics, plus check if a filter is filtering out, plus additionally check the scale of the view, views are smaller scale are also sometimes not shown in the plan view...also found under the plan properties

Thank you , it was the filter which wasn't within the template .
