Cannot place families on linked models

Good morning.
I have some trouble while using Revit 2013 in my school and I'm not able to figure out how to solve it on Internet.

We work in pairs and we use the option "Link Revit" to link the model of the partner.
My problem is that, if I use that option, I can't place any family whose host is wall in the walls of my partner (in the linked model).
Is there any way to do this? Do I have to do anything with properties?

Thank you very much for your answer.

To host families on elements in linked files, you need face-based families. Wall-based families won't attach to linked walls, Ceiling-based families won't attach to linked ceilings,... etc

You can also convert a Wall-Based Family to a Face-Based Family with the following steps:

1. Create a new Project, draw a Wall, and load the Family into it.

2. Place one instance of each Type of that Family on the Wall. Save the Project somewhere.

3. Start another new Project, and Link the previous Project into this one.

4. Use the Copy/Monitor tools to create a copy of each instance of that Family in the current Project.

5. The copied Family is now Face-Based. You can now save/export the new Family to a separate file.

Lastly, you can use the Copy/Monitor Tool within Revit...

This is something everyone has been dealing with for a long time.  Your only real option is to use "face-based" families instead of wall hosted families.  Revit will recognize the face of a linked object (i.e. wall), but doesn't allow for wall hosting through linked models. Using linked models is very common in the professional world.  MEP folks link in Arch. & Struct models all the time.  The only accepted method for this workflow is face based hosting.  Good luck.

I'm also trying to figure out the best way to host furnishing families on a linked model and could not make the copy/monitor trick work either. Apparently it only works for MEP families. Did you find another solution?
