Cannot host elements to certain stair landings.

I have a Revit project with 2 stair cases.  One stair case allows face-based families to be hosted to the landings.  The other stair case does not.  I can't figure out why not. 

The 2nd stair case does allow elements to be hosted to the steps. Just not the landing (get the "no smoking sign" when mousing over the landings).  See video, linked below.

Anyone know what the problem is?  I attached the file.  Revit 2019.

When placing the element, choose Place on Work Plane, then Pick from the Placement plane list, then pick the top of the landing.

@ToanDN Thanks for the reply, but I guess I'm not following.  I don't see an option in that dropdown to host to the stair landing.  See attached screen shot for the options I do have (none of which seem like what I need). 

What am I missing? Thanks!

Choose "Pick" from that list.

Okay here are the steps, follow carefully:
- Start placing the generic model
- Use button Place on Work Plane on Ribbon
- Click on the box next to Placement Plane to get the drop down list
- Choose Pick.. at the very bottom of the list
- Choose Pick a plane from the next dialog
- Pick the stair landing

I can place family on the steps using this method.  But still no luck with the landings.

But the problem is not hosting it to a Work Plane -- it's hosting it to a FACE. So it will move with the FACE it's hosted to.

it will move with the face when placed using On Work Plane and pick the face.

It doesn't Host to the FACE that way -- it hosts to the WORK PLANE which is associated with the top of the Landing.   As soon as you move the Landing, the Element become disassociated.  It does not move with Landing.

I did dude. I'd post a screenshot to prove it, but unfortunately this Forum is struggling mightily today.  It's a pain in the ass just posting a regular comment/reply.    I'm not even sure this one will go through.

The family moves along with the stairs just fine here as seen in the last screencast. You probably did something to it if it wasn't working for you

I'm mainly wondering why the 2 stair cases behave differently.  They seem to be modeled similarly.

Me?!  It's already broken! Clearly.  Something is wrong.  AND, you shouldn't need to jump through all those fricking hoops either.  Just place the **** thing on a Face and move on.

Try this file.  I have fixed the stairs so now you can place on face directly.

Edit the stairs, cut and paste the bottom landing in place.
