Can't see walls in floor plan of Getting Started Guide exercises

I'm new to Revit and come to it from the Building Performance Analysis Certificate.  The Getting Started Guide of the Revit Design Academy is for Revit 2015 while I downloaded Revit 2017.  At the beginning of the exercises,  a foundation wall is created up to the "entry level."  The Guide clearly expects those walls to be visible in the entry level floor plan, but I can't get them to be shown there after redoing the exercises a bunch of times.  These foundation walls are used in the exercise to place a camera view and to add exterior walls in the next part of the Guide.

How can I get those foundation walls to be visible in the entry level floor plan?  The help pages did not address the issue.  I would assume that it has to do with the difference in versions from 2015 and 2017 Revit.

I was able to place the camera blind but and to adjust the view in the 3D View mode using the blue dots in the 3D view.  To add the exterior walls, I needed to do so in the lower level roof plan while the Guide expects it to be done in the entry level floor plan.

Similarly, nothing is visible in the roof floor plan.  The entry level ceiling plan did not work for adding a roof.  However, I could see the the walls in the structural plan where I was able to add the roof.  I am concerned this will create additional complications later in the Guide's exercises.  Then in Revit 2017, I needed to set roof overhang, not offset.

Dealing with these differences has been time consuming and somewhat demotivating.  For example, after adding interior walls, I had great difficulty using split and trim to create the corridor in the exercise.  Eventually, I used "delete inner segment." A lot of stuff does not work like the guide or help videos  says it should.  Revit 2018 was a huge hassle and not workable for the Building Performance Analysis Certificate.  I had to uninstall 2018 and install 2017 without updates in order to proceed with the BPAC.  In the interest of time and to avoid additional complications, should I more strongly consider uninstalling 2017 and installing 2015?   If so, can I still use my files from the 2017 version?  I assumed that the more current version would work best.

Can the foundation wall be seen in 3d view? if yes, adjust the view range,  view depth.

If you install 2015, you won't be able to open the project you started with 2017. You have to redo it from the start.

Now I can see the lower level underlay from the entry level like in the Getting Started Guide.  I tried the 'apply template properties to current view' box , checking underlay orientation and setting the phase filter to none with no luck.  That was suggested as a similar post when I was finishing my previous post.  I might go back and check the beginning of the exercise walls to make sure.

Thanks for the quick response!

Yes I can see the foundation in 3D.  I tried "apply template properties to current view' dialogue checking underlay orientation and setting phase filter to none as suggested in a link to a similar post that poped up as I finished my previous post.  It suggested the view range and depth be set to 'associated level' but playing around with them didn't help.  I was trying to see the floor plan underlay of the lower level in the entry level floor plan..  Maybe it would help in the initial exterior wall creation and camera placement.

Thanks for the quick response!

Still no luck with the view range settings.  The underlay settings seem to solve the problem so far.

@Anonymous Hello, usually it's adjustment is in the view range. Then you can use underlay top and base level if it is solving your issue. thanks

see view range images attached for your reference.

The view range images are helpful clarification.  I remember seeing that image somewhere but wasn't connecting it.
