Can't see Shower Wall Tile in Elevation

Hi All,

I am learning Revit and using both Udemy training courses and Youtube to gain knowledge.  I'm working on a shower renovation and having trouble with viewing Tile in Elevation.  

I created the tile wall using TheRevitKid method in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zber4XiPu_o

Specifically, I created a new wall type that is 1/2 inch thick and the material is a new material.  I created a surface pattern (specifically a model pattern).  In 3D view, the tile looks great, but when I switch to an elevation view, I only see the smooth wall and no tile.  Any suggestions?
