Can't see my kitchen counter top?

Hi!

I'm trying to place a kitchen sink over my kitchen counter top. When I place the sink I get the following error message:

I have tried checking the VG/VV option. But all options are unchecked in it. What can I do to view my kitchen countertop?

Unchecked means not showing.  Check the box next to the Casework category.

it can't be ALL UNCHECKED that would be a blank view lol...must be a typo same like:

1. the error pops up when placing the sink
2. but the the question that came last quote: "what can I do to see my Kitchen Counter Top"

Is it the sink or the counter top? or both? If the OP wasn't able to see the counter top, I am not sure where the sink got placed!! 

Cut a section and check where your elements are! They might not even be on the 2nd Floor plan ie: not visible

I appreciate your patience with helping me. Sorry for not being able to express my difficulties with clarity. I will get better with time. Attached is a screenshot of my VG pane. FYI: all elements are showing for Level 0, except for the kitchen sink.

You have a view template applied to the level 0 view that is why all is grey. If you remove the view template you will be able to check and uncheck the boxes


However, you have to look in the section where or which floor you placed the sink and counter.

In your original post the error is on level 2.. now you are talking about level 0

Apparently in this case, the problem was that a kitchen sink is a 2d object and can't be viewed on a plan view. When I cut a section, I can see the kitchen sink. This link really helped:

I do have another problem that has cropped up though. The sink and the counter top are in 180 degrees opp. position. When try to rotate both together to 180 degrees it does not happen.

2D objects ado not show in 3D view. they are nested into family just for the purpose of showing in 2D views (Plans and sections) but yeah, what matters is that all is fixed and you are good with the sink and counter

As for the rotation ... I am not sure what and how you are rotating. There are some families which you can rotate after placement using the spacebar key. However, I do not see any reason why you cant select both and use the rotate tool

If the sink is hosted by the countertop (a face based family sink), then you only need to select and rotate the countertop.
