Can't place railing on existing stair

I am simply trying to add a railing system to an existing stair stringer, but nothing happens when I follow the procedure. I have tried everything I can think of with no luck. Any help in adding a well stringer railing would be very much appreciated. See the short attached video clip. Thanks.

Hi @advandes - couldn't download your AVI. A suggestion - try Screencast next time. Can you share the file? It will give more to go on and find an actual solution instead of guessing.

If you can't share the file, save a copy and strip everything out of it but the stair - or copy and paste it into a fresh file. Option 1 is preferred because we can then see if there is anything in the original file that could be getting in the way.

Hi @advandes

I have watched your video and tried to reproduce your issue.

This seems to work fine for me on some stairs I have just created:

Did you create the stairs yourself?

Is it possible as a test to create a new set of stairs in the same project and see if you still have the same issue?

simple ... you need to remove the railing from the other stringer and then to recreate it again. For some reason Revit treats it as one ..

I did create the stair myself, and it does appear that there must be something wrong or corrupt. I just now tried to copy offset the existing railing along the center of the stair and that actually worked. (crazy). I also opened up a new Revit project and created a stair which did place railings on both sides. I then deleted one side and tried to recreate it, and encountered the same issue you had seen in my video clip. Your video clip shows exactly what I would expect to see. I attached another clip...Thanks for helping
