Can't cut instance out of Wall.

I'm designing a house for my project and I designed a custom door in a family to place into the house, while in the family editor you can chose an option to cut with voids when loaded, then once the family is loaded you should be able to use the cut geometry command to cut through the floor. So I placed the door on the wall I wanted it on, but then when I choose cut geometry and click on the floor then the door I get an error saying "Can't cut instance of SDR002 out of Wall"

Why would a door placed on a wall cut a floor?

The frame of the door needs room to be placed into the floor. I its a shoji styled sliding paper door and the frame is going to be placed in the floor so people don't trip over it.

I think the way Revit works is one void can cut only one host.

1. A wall-based door family can only cut the wall. You need to a separate void family to cut the floor.

2. If it is a floor based or face based and hosted by a floor then it can cut the floor, but it will not cut the wall, so you need to create another opening to cut the wall.

Either way, you will end up with 2 cutting elements.
