Can't access print range 'selected views/sheets' and setup with print?

Hope someone can assist with this issue.

I click the icon 'select' which normally brings up another window where I select which views/sheets to print but nothing happens. Similar issue with setup as i click the icon and nothing happens. I was in the middle of printing to pdf (4 sheets as individual pdf's), it created the first two fine then stopped and I haven't been able to print since on any Revit project or family.

Can someone suggest a solution?

I've checked other programs and I can print to pdf and desktop printer, only getting this issue with Revit.

Not direct solutions. You can start with the common ones.

-Restart Revit.

-Restart your computer.

-Check for updates (Revit, OS, Printer Driver)

-Look at your journals and see if something is reported. To do this

  • Close and Reopen
  • Perform the actions that creates the problem
  • Check and/or upload the last journal file.  Journal files are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\<Product name and release>\Journals

-Reinstall printer drivers

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

In Windows, go to printers, and then change the default printer. I had a very similar problem, and this solved it for me.

@Anonymous hello, you can try this "Uninstall (Windows 7) KB 3177725 and (Windows 10) KB 3176493" see if this helps. thanks

A bug with Revit which has been allowed to persist for now (at least) 3 years.

When printing multiple .pdf's, Revit's communication with the .pdf printer (and this happens with multiple .pdf printers, including native Windows) gets stuck somehow, leaving the print dialogue unusable.

The fix is to either switch printer manually (as suggested in this thread), or to simply "print in the blind", by changing printer in Revit and clicking ok, after which the next print dialogue will work again.

It is an odd issue, since it initially appears that the popup windows are not showing in window, but they are never created. In addition to the listed solutions, I have also just found this can be remedied by clicking the checkbox for "Print to File" (one of the few print dialog options that should still work). Click "OK". Nothing will be printed, to file or otherwise, but it will restore proper function to printing.

Using another pdf writer might help as well. As most standard things in windows *edge*, the windows to pdf writer causes problems for me. I now installed cutePDF and now it works again. So it definitely has something to do with the windows to pdf feature.

I can't believe clicking the print to file button has resolved this for me after multiple reinstalls, printer removals and work arounds!

Thankyou!

"Print to file" is working but still needs to be done EVERY time I open
Revit.
Would love a permanent solution!

Changing the default printer worked, but I have to restart every time I want to print something. Is there a permanent solution?

Did you try my fix?

If your driver 'got stuck' in Revit's Print-universe, that might be the solution for you 🙂
