Can no long apply materials...

I've been working in this model for most of the day but all of a sudden I can't apply materials to anything (except one stair tread...). I have no idea what's happened and I'm hoping one of you can sort it out for me. 
It seems that any surface with a material already applied to it can be changed (all my floor plates for example) but its a bare wall or stair tread... forget it.

Set View Phase Filter to Show Complete

...having no issues assigning materials though. I noticed your wall types have no materials assigned to them.  Are you aware of how to do this?

...any geometry material that is set to "By Category" will use the Material assigned to the geometry's Category under Object Styles. If no Material is listed under Object Styles, the "Default" Material will be used.  Typically gray in color.

Changed phase filter to 'Show Complete', and I'm seeing more. 
I applied materials to my stairs through the 'edit type' path, but I've typically always used the paint tool and it's worked fine. 

I'm still having issues in some area's however. 
Attempted to apply materials (backsplash tile) to the wall in my kitchen via 'edit type' and nothing happens. It says that the material is applied, but the wall still shows gray on me end. Is there another filter to change?

Like I said, I'm have no issues applying Materials.

Didn't change the phase filter in the view I was in. 😆

I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. Are you sure you Materials are set up correctly. Try changing the color on the Graphic's tab of the Material to Pink and see what happens.  

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH THIS FORUM! ARE WE NO LONGER ABLE TO INCLUDE SCREENSHOTS (I.E. PNG, BMP, ETC.)???
