Callout tag does not show when referencing a Structural Plan

In my project I'm using Callouts on 1/8" Floor Plan views to reference 1/4" Floor Plan views. The callouts in Floor Plan views that reference other Floor Plan views have callout tags showing the view and sheet, as expected. However, when a callout references a Structural Plan, the callout tag does not appear. I've done several trouble shooting tests, and cannot understand why this is happening. If I change the callout Reference View from a Structural Plan to a Floor Plan, the callout tag will miraculously appear. And vice-versa. What am I missing? TIA

@ennujozlagam
thanks for the link, but I can't find a resolution to my issue there.

The only thing I change is these two images is the Reference View. Even using the same view template for Floor Plan and Structural Plan, the callout tag disappears when the Reference View is a Structural Plan.

have you check your VG or there is assigned view template or share the file so we can check?

Revit separates views by discipline. Imagine that people from different disciplines are working on the same model. You don't want the callouts from the structural engineer to appear in architectural drawings and vice versa. The same happens with sections and elevations. If you are in a view whose discipline is Plumbing and you make a section, that section will not be visible in views of other disciplines.

At first thought, your suggestion makes sense. But it doesn't hold up in reality across different disciplines.

I created a brand new test project using the Revit 2024.2 OOTB template. It contains plan views for all disciplines. In an Architectural Floor Plan view, if I create a callout with Reference Other View, I can reference plan views in other disciplines and the callout tag will show. If I select a Structural Plan view as a reference, the callout tag does not show.

Even in a Structural Plan view, a callout referencing another Structural Plan view will not display the callout tag.

to be clear: THE. SAME. THING. is happening is Autodesk's own OOTB template, and only with reference to Structural Plan views.

And, if your suggestion is true, then why does Revit even have the ability to cross reference callout views from different disciplines? Why does the callout tag appear for cross referencing views from other disciplines, but not with Structural Plans?

If you already check Disciplines and View Filters and that is not preventing the callout to appear, in the settings of that callout view, check "Hide at scales coarser than"

Test file attached using Revit 3024 OOTB template. For the record, callouts have a built-in tag.

When you open the file, open an Architectural Level 1 Floor Plan view and a Structural Level 1 Floor Plan View, select the callout, in the Reference Other View change the selection. Watch what happens to the callout tag when a Structural Plan is selected.

If you find something Iā€™m missing, please let me know.

I found the problemā€¦ all Floor Plan disciplines are under the same Type Properties, except Structural Plans. They are theyā€™re own type. In Type Properties for Structural Plan, there was no callout Tag selected. Once selected, the tag in the callout displays. The callout tag can be selected from two ways: in a Structural Plan > Edit Type / Type Properties > Graphics > Callout Tag ; or in the Parent View, select the Callout and change Reference Other View to a Structural Plan > de-select the Callout > then select the Callout > Edit Type / Type Properties > Graphics > Callout Tag.

Once a Callout Tag has been selected for Structural Plan, it cannot be deleted, or left blank. There has to be an entry.

This appears to be an overlooked issue on Autodeskā€™s part. They never entered a Callout Tag for Structural Plan.

This is how the default Revit OOTB template is setup. Iā€™ve never encountered it before, so I had never set a callout tag for Structural Plans in my template.

This is another example of Autodesk's failure to provide comprehensive and complete development of Revit's user interface that has cost me literally several hours of my billable time to troubleshoot. I need to understand these types of issues, and not use yet another work-around. No one here has been able to offer a solution, and my re-seller that provides tech support, ASTI, could not provide a solution either (although they were on the right path). This lack of cohesiveness with Revit's functionality & user interface is infuriating and unacceptable. I continually hope that Autodesk will some day address all of Revit's flaws, faults, and short comings, but it's highly unlikely.

So what you are saying is that you did not set a Callout Tag in your Floor Plans: Structural Plans type and you are blaming Autodesk for that just because they missed it also in their OOTB sample project?
