Cable trays NOT automatically connecting

The cable trays aren't connecting no matter what angle I try to connect them and I am presented with the following error message in the image attached despite loading all the cable tray connectors.

At first I thought the angles were perhaps too much for the software to automatically connect but after trying a simple 90 degree connection It still didn't work.

Any help would be much appreciated

I drew them in plan and want them on the same level?

I'm not sure what you mean by askewed...

The error says it all:  you need to load  fitting families and assign them to the system.  To get them quickly:  Create a new project using System-Default project template and  transfer project standards from it to yours (check all cable tray boxes).

I had them loaded already which is why I was confused but I didn't know I had to assign them to the tray
