Black screen shows after rendering

I have been rendering images and suddenly but views dont process - and only turn out black images - is there some option I have accidentally hit that is causing this?  This only happens when I am using the render tool - if I do an in view ray trace I get, more or less what I am looking for  - but without the enhanced processing for materials and shadows.  Suggestions?

hi have you tried to untick the "use of hardware acceleration" or update your graphics card driver or check your graphics card model if icluded in the list of certified driver by autodesk. This could be the problem. If you using Windows 8.1 i also experienced this problem. thanks. hope it helps
