Hi All, why the BIM Interpoerability Tool does not update automatically the Uniclass tables from NBS??
Hi,
I'm not sure why they don't update the default UK tables with latest Uniclass 2015 definitions available from NBS but I guess they might have limited resources.
I don't work with classification that much these days but this issue used to upset me enough that I made a script to automatically download the latest tables from the NBS website and update a custom excel file to be used by the Classification Manager. It was mentioned here: https://wrw.is/how-to-get-latest-uniclass-2015-tables-in-excel-format/
Unfortunately I haven't updated the script in a long time so I doubt it still works. I will reach out to one of the developers of the BIM Interoperability Tools addins to suggest they include a similar automation script to mine to their workflow so that every new release/update of the addin comes with the latest NBS table info (and potentially same for other classification systems).
Also, happy to help you create your own script or custom spreadsheet.

Thanks for the response.
I would prefer for Autodesk to update this issue. i am in the other side where consultants tells me that the Interoperability Tool is not updated.
Hopefully, Autodesk can modify this

We have just noticed this, is there a way to download the latest tables and 'import' them or re-map/refresh the BIM Interop tool to read the new data?
Hi, yes you can. I wrote a script to automate exactly that (download latest tables from NBS website, merge all tables into a single xlsx file, then use that to update a Classification Manager "custom database" spreadsheet, and use that to classify in Revit.
Unfortunately, the script is not working just now, as I have not updated it for a few years...
If you or someone you know feel like having a go at getting the script (written in PowerShell) to work again, I'll happily share what I have 🙂

Sure, fire it over to me and i will get one of our computational chaps to take a look - once fixed we will send over to you
Hey, sorry for late reply…
Had forgotten I had it here: https://github.com/BIM4GIB/Uniclass2015-GetLatest
would be great to get it working again 🙂

Yes, it would be good if the script works again.
@nathanielrackhamTEVDG let us know if you fix it.
@esk0r thanks for sharing it.

Hi @nathanielrackhamTEVDG any progress on this at all? just found a table from 2021 in my model 😕 .
Thanks
Sorry, we are looking into it now. Totally forgot about it. Will hopefully have an update in the next week or so.
Thank you, I appreciate your help with this. I believe Uniclass updated their tables again last month.
They did indeed yes, I think the tool is at least 10 updates out of sync now.... the NBS website lists out all the changes and there is a LOT so we need to get this working.
Hopefully our team can get is nailed down so we can share.
Hi, just to say that the NBS updates Uniclass tables every three months. Every project should define which version to follow at the start of the project (e.g. latest version available at the time) and IMO, stick with that version for classification tables until end of project.

We are so back! I just updated the script in GitHub. It currently only downloads all latest tables and then combines them into one spreadsheet (saved to a folder in Desktop). Will be working on the Classification Manager updater side of things soon.
