SSDs themselves maybe faster (definitely faster if you RAID them) but the bottle neck is with the network throughput, not the speed of the drives. So for now, I would keep RAID-5 HDDs with humongous storage capacity for the server. IMHO.
If it is just you than I suggest the internal SSD. We have the computers in our office running off of a NAS system, which works much faster for worksharing.
