Best option to downgrade Revit 2017 to 2016

Dears, I have a model has been created using Revit 2016, but for some reasons the model upgraded to Revit 2017 and some changes made on the model. My question, what is the best solution to downgrade the model from version 2017 to 2016 without losing data and geometry? If the solution is using IFC, what is the best format and settings to be used. Thanks and regards,

A file only upgrades to Revit 2017 if it is loaded in Revit 2017 and then saved.

Have you looked at backup filew hich migh still be in Revit 2016?

If you export it to IFC then you loose all the Revit intelligence. I would first try IFC4 as this is the latest IFC version and has the most extended information.

If this does not work then use the IFC2x3, I believe still the most common format

I agree with EnlInt’s opinion. So please try to use IFC4 or IFC2x3.

This is one of the reasons to keep folders with archived copies of the models. If anything goes wrong, you lose a relatively small amount of work, not the whole model.

Thank you dear Enllnt. This method (IFC) is efficient when interested in geometry and quantities, but as you said Revit intelligence will be lost and Families changed to generic models. The only choice is repeating the work from last Revit model saved in 2016 version.
