Benjamin Moore Library for Revit 2018??

Has anyone seen or heard of an update coming for the Benjamin Moore paint library add-in?

When I try to run the app available from BimObjects.com I get an error that says it's incompatible with the current version of Revit.

I have the same question.  Contacted Benjamin Moore Tech Dept. & IT Dept. and they don't know anything about it.  Contacted Microdesk (the publisher) and they are looking into it.  They seem to think it has been discontinued -- however, it is still available on BIM Object, but it doesn't seem to indicate which versions it is compatible with.

I'm also trying to install the Ben Moore Add In for Revit 2018. It opens in my 2016 version, but doesn't show up in 2018. Has anyone found a solution? If I paint my project in '16 and open it in '18, will the colors be there?

As far as I have been able to ascertain, they stopped updating this app in 2016.What I ended up doing was making a simple box family and inserting it into a blank 2016 file.  Then I assigned colors to it from the BM app (or made copies of the boxes with different colors).  Then (and this is SO unnecessarily tedious and I do wish they would update that app) I saved the file (in 2016) and then opened it in 2018.  Then I opened the main 2018 file with my model and copied/pasted those boxes from the other file into my main file just to get the paint colors into the material editor and then deleted the boxes.  This doesn't work so well when you aren't sure what colors you want to use -- you might have to transfer quite a few boxes (or whatever family you use).  But I happened to have been given the paint color names and just needed to transfer them, so it wasn't too bad.

There is a Dunne Edwards material library of all their various interior/exterior paints that can be downloaded from BimObjects...but I would really prefer to use Benny-Moore paints.

Thanks for the info.I do a lot of visualization and in this case, the clients requested specific BM colors.I think a lot of companies/vendors don't realize how much visualization a lot of us are doing and how important it is to have these sorts of resources supplied by them.

I also wonder if it's not a litigious situation for them as well and why, perhaps, they dodge it.

If the rendered output doesn't match precisely what their paint chip sample looks like, I wonder if  client has sued a paint supplier/architect because, at the end of a project they said "Hey, that's NOT what the rendering looked like!".

You're probably right.I noticed that the Dunne Edwards website has a big disclaimer about exactly that.Still, you would think these companies would realize that their paint chip image is likely to be a bit closer to the real thing than what we can approximate.Various monitors are always going to give a different color rendition, regardless of what we do.I use Autodesk's cloud rendering service exclusively, so there is some consistency there, but in the end it will always come down to the monitor -- unless, of course, we're talking about viewing on a phone and then there is at least the possibility of some real consistency/coordination there, if iOS and Android (and others) would see the merit in standardizing their color rendition.  This level of tech is above my pay grade, but it would definitely make my life easier if there were more standardization between all the various stakeholders!
