Baseboard Trim Family?

I am wondering if there is a way to create a family item for baseboard trim. I have been able to create a profile family that I can then use for the model in place option, with a sweep, but it is time-consuming.  (especially since I have to do this more than once per room and in many different rooms) So, I am wondering if there is a way to create a family that I can place similar to the "closet shelf and pole" family. It would be so easy to be able to click a starting point and a finishing point and be done.

Use Wall Sweep tool and define a Wall Sweep type from your profile.

Follow up question. I have most of the house done. That being said, I am only able to place the sweep when I am in an actual "3d View." or a section view. This is not a great option as it is very hard to see into the rooms where I want to place the sweep.   Is there any way I can do this through the floor plans or even a "camera" created view?

It is true that you can only place them in 3d or elevation.  I would create 3d view and stretch the section box down to dwarf the view, then just orbit around and place.  You can also place on one wall, finish, then select the wall sweep and add walls from the ribbon to add continuous segments.

if you want to draw it on plan, railing may be a better choice.  Create a railing with just top rail and use a profile of the baseboard to define the top rail type.

Less time-consuming for you, would be to build the baseboard sweep directly into the Wall Type.

Well, This does seem like an ok idea, however, I would have to do several different types of walls, some with one side, some with both, ad some of my walls would have 2 sweeps, as they are multi-level walls. It seems it would become pretty messy pretty fast.

I only add base trim in places where I plan to do renderings or have a 3D view...for most interior elevations I just use a line. <shrug>  Headache isn't worth it when having to break trim or walls just to get the trim to go be applied room by room.

It could get "messy".  It could decrease productivity -- or it could enhance productively. It's just another tool in the toolbox.
