Autodesk Software Review (Licensing Audit)

So... I just received email notification that I was selected to undergo a required software compliance audit. Neato.

(Preamble: I'm a one-person architecture firm and collaborate with other one-person architecture and structural engineering firms. In past lives I managed Autodesk licensing, installation, and end-user support for mid-sized organizations.)

After completing audit process (I think?) the thought that comes to mind is that Autodesk must really hate its users. I'm sure that in some EULA or Terms-of-Service I checked a box and agreed to perform these audits, but.... wow. For larger firms with dedicated IT staff... meh... job security for them... yay. But I really feel sorry for the little guys that have to take time out of their schedules to figure this process out.

What is the point of such a convoluted audit process if we are forced to enter our Autodesk ID credentials -- sometimes several times a week -- to continue using software? All of this just feels like "guilty until proven innocent", and punishing legitimate users for someone else's software piracy.

You might want to ask your question, if you really have one, in the Installation and Licensing forum.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Perhaps you should be pointing the finger at those who think they deserve a free ride, instead.  Just a thought.
