Autodesk Revit 2017 crashing

Hi,

We have installed Autodesk Revit 2017 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Citrix environment for remote use by the users.

I am seeing the below crash in the event viewer quite regularly. Does anyone know why this is happening?

***************************************

Application: Revit.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException
at Autodesk.Internal.Windows.SxSActivationContext.DeactivateActCtx(UInt32, UIntPtr)
at Autodesk.Internal.Windows.SxSActivationContext.Dispose(Boolean)
at Autodesk.Internal.Windows.SxSActivationContext.Finalize()

***************************************

Cheers,

David

Hi @Anonymous

Can you confirm the version of your citrix product? We have a specific supported version for Revit 2017.

Hi @Anonymous

With XenApp \ XenDesktop 7.12, It seems like your servers and client workstations exceed the minimum recommended (XenApp 6.5) hardware and software requirements, which is good to note.Smiley Happy

However, I recommend that you follow a certain workflow when using Revit in a citrix environment.

You might want to take a peek at the link HERE for Configuring Autodesk Revit for Citrix

  • From the error message, - SEHException error occurs when both managed and unmanaged code (C++/CLI and standard C++) is used.
  • This exception pops up when the application is using a rather large amount of memory.
  • See 2017 Model Performance Technical Note

The crash could be due to a number of reasons:

1) It is possible that there is a compatibility issue between the Revit clients and your Windows Server 2012.

2) I suggest you run a system requirement check for Revit 2017

3) It could be due to a Windows user profile corruption which can be fixed from following the steps at this LINK or there is a possibility of a missing registry key.

4) Try removing your linked files and see if you still continue to experience a crash.

5) Check the latest update for the affected release - update if the product is date.

6) Disable Revit add-ins

7) Perform a selective startup of Windows

8) Disable anti-virus protection

9) Update your graphics drivers

Do let me know if you can resolve the issue, or we can proceed with generating a journal file to filter for potential errors.

Thanks for your solution.

Can you help me with my case.

But Here in my case Two types of crash happens:

1. Even if i open an new file and close it - I receive a crash report like the attached image 1.

2. I am using a landscape plugin  - When opening a new document and even place a Tree using that plugin and press ESC.

It crashes., where as , I use the same plugin for Revit 2016 version which working fine. This crash happens only in Revit 2017.

It would be very helpful if anyone give me a solution to these above case.
