Assigning Length Parameter for Rail Vs Shared Parameter

I am trying to Make a schedule that gives me the total length of a certain type of rail in my project. However I have a family that uses this "railing " (Modeled in the family as a generic extrusion because I can't get actual railing into the family) that I also want to include in my schedule. There is a fixed amount of railing in each instance of this family. Is there any workaround that I can use to schedule both the railings length and the railing within my family instances to get a grand total within my project?

What if you create the railing native to the project and then group it with your families without the railing inside? It allows you to manage the repetition of the "assembly". This would let you schedule them easily.

That is an interesting solution, The only thing is I would like to separate them in the Schedule I am trying to create. Do you know if that would be possible this way?

Use one railing type for the project based and another version (different name) for the family related railing. Then sort the schedule by type.

The schedule would look like this where each 9' x 18' (5' Aisle) family has a fixed amount of striping within each instance.
