Assign IFC class to a mass object

Hello!

I have created a shading with sweeps in-place mass in in my model. I want to assign IfcShading to it. I was wondering if someone has some idea about how to do this?

I attached my model.

P.S. the model is being prepared for IFC export from Revit 2018 and import into another energy analysis tool.

Regards,

Arghavan

Dear Mr. Arghavan,

First thing i'd suggest you is,

If you are sharing your file to others, try to make it in lower version of revit, so all can open it.

i tried to open your file in revit 2017 but it has been created in higher version so i am not able to open it.

anyways i've shared a way to make ifc export settings in the link below.

you can follow the same process for ifc export settings. and always try to export your ifc file With IFC2x3 Extended FM Handover View To export maximum properties of your model. Models exported with FM Handover View can be mainly used for Facility Management Propose.

For IFC export class settings, you can check my answer on the link below.

For FM Handover View Review the Snap Attached.

Thank you @Anonymous

Firstly, I am not a Mr! Secondly, sure, I will save as a lower version next time. Thirdly, I want this model for energy analysis as I mentioned, do you think FM handover is appropriate even for this purpose?

Dear Arghavan,

As per my experience till now, FM Handover Setting exported maximum element properties for me. and for more detailed exports i am mapping IFC Classes from IFC Export Settings to get desired results. and for more detailed understanding about IFC Classes & IFC Model View Definitions You can review following link.

Hope it will helpful to you.

Hi!

Ok! I see your point in IFC FM Handover export, but what I'm curious about is whether FM Handover is appropriate for Energy Analysis as well?

Because I am not sure whether Space boundaries will be imported for FM Handover or not.

I have explained my question here, in the second post.

Arghavan
