Assign a system family category to a component family... Is that possible?

Is it possible to assign a System Family category such as the Walls Category to a Component Family?

Actually it is NOT because I want to do just that, but as a programmer I need to know if it is actually possible as this has been claimed by a fellow prorammer? 

If so .. How is it done?

I know that I can make an In-Place-Family and assign it to a System Family category such as the Walls, Roofs, Floors categories. Are there any other situations where a non-system-family can be assigned to a system family category (such as Walls, Roofs, Floors etc.)?

I have searched the Revit documentation but I cannot find any documentation on this issue. Any links to further reading?

Although this question concerns som programming task, the question itself is not actually a programming question. Therefor I post my question in this forum.

Your question is rather confusing as stated but here is a list of categories that can be assigned to a model in place component.

When I look at your list i contains considerably more items than my list.

How can I fix this?

Your selections for "Filter List:" need more boxes checked. You only have Architectural selected.

Even if I check all disciplines I do not get a list like the one you supplied.

(In a family Document I click Family Category and Parameters button and check all dicsiplines)

I must be doint something fundamentally wrong ...

You did nothing wrong.  @RobDraw was showing you an in place family within a project.

With that said, you can create an in place family, give it a system category such as walls, then save it as an external family.  there you will have some Walls in the external family, but still you won't be able to assign the category to any new elements.  It is best to avoid what you are trying to do.

Well in fact I do not want to do it. I just need to know if this is a possibility for an external, not-in-place-family.
