Assembly Views - Align/Trim anythings

Hi Guys,

Could you please help me about the assembly view. I have created assembly for the kitchen typical type for documentation. But I cannot use any tool on Modify tab as align, trim, e.t.c in below. Anyone can tell that why and anyway to solve that ?

You have to select the assembly to choose Edit Assembly, you'll find the tools become enabled again. The assembly views aren't really expecting you to alter the assembly. Assemblies are quite different from Groups.

If you are talking about using trim/align to drafting elements in an assembly view then you have to create s detail group from the drafting items, place the group in drafting view, edit the group and you can have those tools available, when done, save the group then it will be updated in the assembly view.

Thank you so much about your help @ToanDN . But one more problem is that when i use detail group on drafting view, i cannot see any elements of assembly so i cannot align/trim/extend detail line or fill region with them. Do you have another better idea ?

Overlay them or place them next to each other on one sheet so you can see the reference.

The explanations and workarounds are ok, but it would be better if Revit could understand the context of annotation vs. modeling, in this situation. Adding a simple filled region or detail lines become unexpectedly cumbersome.

This is insane. I use assemblies to detail millwork. I need to use the tools, what is the reason for this pedantic block of all the tools?

Bringing this back because I fully agree - I use them for shop drawings as it's the easiest way to quickly create views within the same file of a series of disparate millwork pieces. It's beyond frustrating to not have the full suite of tools for what feels like no reason. Is there a plugin of any sort that brings back this functionality, or can someone from team explain the reasoning behind it?

The accepted solution works, but is crazy to do something like that, is ridiculous. The assamblies should be better to save time on repetitive things like this, but unable/blocking the annotation tools have any sence.

How an easy way to do something will turn in a such a frustrating and wasted time thing. I hope revit see this chat and fix this dumb situation.
