Assemblies in Design Options?

I cannot create assemblies in design options or move assemblies into design options. Is it user error or how Revit works? Why would Autodesk limit you from doing this?

It's not user error. Just the way the software is. Assemblies cannot be part of an option.

@Alfredo_Medina That's disappointing. I use design options to show different positions of a moving element of the building. Example: stadium roof open and closed, difference configurations of moving seating sections, position of a lift in a theatre stage design, speaker stacks suspended at low, mid, high elevations. Complex elements that need to be detailed separately. I've seen phases used for this, but they were very awkward. With design options, I have views showing the different conditions - open/closed, up/down. Is there another way? If there was a way to show family views in the project, that might work. Here's a video screen that changes position.

Not using Assemblies in Design Options? 

Use model groups, composite families, or links instead.

I've tried to use phases to but it's quite complicated. The better solution is to:
1) duplicate the assembly,

2) move one of them,

3) apply different comments(or another instance parameter) to both instances of the assembly,

4) duplicate the views and apply view filters affecting assemblies with visibility based on comments.

5) propagate view filters to several views using view templates.

Thanks, jaroslaw. I work with view templates, my go-to workaround, but I haven't worked with filters, except for schedules. Onwards!
