To transfer subtotals from rows to columns you need to create conditional formula for each area type.  See the similar thread:  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/areaschedule-subtotals/m-p/8565462#M227891

Of not clear, share your file.

Area types are hard-coded.  But you need not to rely on it, just use any other parameter such as Name or Comments, to give them different 'types'.

I already tried that but the only thing that happens is that a new column appears with the name of the area.. not with the actual area number.this is what i get if i do that. Just another column with the area name .this is what i get if i do that. Just another column with the area name .this is what i need a column called commercial area or residential and below the area of that space !this is what i need a column called commercial area or residential and below the area of that space !

for that reason i need to set up properly the area family with the proper parameter.

I think you do need to to look at the reference thread I provided earlier more thoroughly .  It is not just similar, but exactly the question.  Again, feel free to hare your file here.

Here is an example file.  A screencast will be up later.
