Areas derived from a Floor Plan and an Area Plan are absolutely NOT the same.
Some areas need to be calculated using a specific face of Wall while others require centerline of wall. So a 'whole project' toggle to switch between one and the other does not work. To dive deeper, you can use an area to include lots of rooms and label it as a single area instead of each room individually.
This is how our office deals with this:
- Areas should be calculated using Area Plans
- Each area is calculated per room typically.
- All Areas totaled should match the "Gross" building SF (Outside Perimeter exterior wall face).
- Areas and Rooms should be named the same. As such a Dynamo script or manual revision is required.
- We overlay and Area Plan (with nothing but tags visible) and a Floor Plan if you need to see both tags simultaneously on a sheet.
