applying multiple finishes to exterior walls

I'm looking for the best method for applying a wood siding to my exterior walls as shown in the attachment. I would like a horizontal band of the same siding on the bottom. And another horizontal band on the top.

You have 2 options in my opinion to accomplish this.

1) make the vertical siding and the horizontal siding 2 different wall types and stack them (do not actually use the stack wall feature) with the appropriate top and bottom offsets from the host levels.

2) Have 1 wall type with the vertical siding and then use the split face tool under Modify --> Geometry --> Split Face and draw the lines where you want the finish to change, then use the paint tool (right below split face on the ribbon) and paint the wall with the horizontal texture.

There are several ways

1. Stack wall

2. Wall with sweep

3. Curtainwall

See attached as sample so you pick which option works for you.

All great answers and very much appreciated. I really like the compound wall trick but any of these will work.

Thanks Guys
