Applying material to imported Rhino file

Hello,

I'm currently learning Revit and I'm working on a project where I would like to import furniture I've modeled in Rhino, make it into a family, and then apply a material to the furniture.

I managed to create the family through File > New family and then Insert > Import CAD and chose the file in Rhino format. The problem is I can't find where to change the material in the family file?

I've attached the family file.

Paint it with a Material Parameter.

Create a Material Parameter in the Family named "Material" (or whatever you want), and then use the Paint Brush tool to apply the "Material (param)" to the faces of the geometry.

...why don't you just recreate this Rhino Family using Revit Geometry.  It would be a cinch.

I opened the family by double clicking it in my project, painted it with a material, clicked on "Load into project and close", saved over the old file, but the material doesn't show up in the project file..

I'm trying the import from Rhino since in the future I will probably model more organic stuff, then it's hard in Revit.

But if I would have created the family in Revit, would it be the same process of applying material through painting?
