I have columns in a project that I need to paint

How do I add a parameter to the family so that they will all be already painted when I input them into revit

Regards

Aidan

hi

column family should already have a material parameter. if you want to, you can also change the parameter by instance in the family editor.

if you want different color for your sides, then you will need to create new material parameter for each sides.

You can paint Architectural columns directly in projects without any additional work.  For other categories, paint surfaces in the family with material parameters then you can change the material for each surface in projects

You can do this globally by adding the Material to the Column Category under Object Styles.  That's what "BYCATEGORY" Materials use.
