Any way to set the room boundaries at wall centers for interior walls and at wall finish for exterior walls? (I hope there is a way without using area plans.)

Rooms and Area plans are two different things, but anyway - it's a whole-sale operation. There's no different settings for interior / exterior walls. There are some Dynamo script dealing with Room boundaries.

@526996629 A room boundary is always finished within the inside face of the walls, eg what you would expect in everyday life.
If you wanted to finish a room boundary as you have shown;

  • Go to the properties browser and uncheck the room bounding option for your walls.
  • Go to the line separator tool and create the line on the outside face  or centreline of your walls

Jus to be clear, I would not recommend this practice, especially in any project that's not a small project.
