I have a Revit model from the curtain wall sub contractor. LOD is 500, file is 30,000 objects and 170MB.
The file is 2017 but the project is 2016. I opted to export to IFC for Revit Coordination then spit the model to Navisworks for site coordination ( I got IFC to work). Initially the file was too big to export to IFC. This required redrawing 15-20 profiles for curtain wall mullions, panels etc, reducing the LOD and the file to 92MB.
Here is the kicker, usually when a model is exported from Revit to Navisworks, the resultant is 90% smaller in file size. When I export this curtain wall to Navisworks, the resultant is 96MB. No matter what I did in my Navisworks export settings I could not reduced the output file size.
This leads me to believe my the curtainwall itself is too big. I am really running out of options for reducing the file size. Here is a list of things tried:
- Exported all families to uncover huge family files. Made edits to reduce family size.
- Purged all families
- Used DPR Slicer cleanup tool, removed all sheets, views, schedules and legends from the model.
- Purged the model, numerous times removing everything
- Removed cad files
- Created new file. Linked in Curtain wall file, copy paste the model, same issues.
- Compacted file (numerous times)
- Exported with a coarse view
- Exported to NW with these options:
There is something that is ballooning this file and I can't find it. Help??
Autodesk: I have a file I can submit if you want to dig deeper.
