adjusting the position of the materials?

3- How can I adjust the position of the image on the material exactly on the surface... Like If I want the image on the material to be on a certain place or to start with the beginning of the surface its on?!!
u can see the problem in the image attached

there is one solution I use but its bad and hard one
to adjust the position of the image in the material
However that's inaccurate and hard to adjust
beside
I have more than one surface with the same material it cant be adjusted on boss of them
and even with one surface ,, every time u move that surface even altl u will have to adjust the position again

"ps:the image on the material is choose to be repeated vertically and horizontally and if i tried to turn the repeat off it crashes and the image wont appear at all"

Hi,

Yes of course you can adjust the position of the texture.

Here are the simple steps:

  1. In the graphic properties of your material, > Surface pattern, pick a (MODEL pattern preferably) pattern that represents you material in a view.
  2. I will consider that you have already set the required picture and its size in the appearance tab
  3. Click on the Texture alignment button under the Surface pattern options
  4. Align the texture as required.
  • FINAL STEP:
    • in you model, you can then modify face by face the alignment and rotation of the texture: hover over a line of the surface pattern in a plan view, and then press TAB until the line is highlighted. You will see that it is possible to align, move and /or rotate the pattern. As the texture is aligned to the pattern, it will transform alongside!

That way, you set a material with a basic alignment in the material editor, and then adapt it face by face as required!

Hope this was of help,

Accept as solution if it works!

Cheers,

Hello.

I tried your method but still it does not work out for me.

Could you please make a video on how to do it?

For example I have this material with image that I would like to paint it on a surface without repeating the image.

Great appreciated for your concern.

Thanks.

Great Regards

Azizi

this method works on materials applied to system families only (walls, floors, ceilings etc.). it DOES NOT work when the material is applied to the family, inside the project environment (the said family has material instance parameter). When attempted to move model pattern of the family, entire family moved with it.

I understand all you said, but what if by some chance the pattern line got outside of the object so there is nothing to select. What do I do then? Is there another way to move material pattern?

I guess I can make the pattern smaller, change it's position and make it big again but that sounds like a slow process..
