adding the windows from same file but a earlier version

as i would these excercises from this book i saved as different versions according to chapter. for some reason i deleted windows from the first floor

so i would like to get the windows from 6-1 and put them in 10-1

i tried group saved as a rvt file but is also took walls . i just want the windows

how do i do that

yes, windows wall hosted so it will come along with the wall. if don't want wall you need a new instance for the window. hope it's helpful to you.

Open the Earlier Project version

  • click on the window you want to transfer - and then : Mode>Edit Family - that opens the Family Editor - Save the Family into a new .rfa file so to can find it later

Open the New Project version

  • go to Build>Architecture > Window >Mode>Load Family and load the previous saved Window family - Revit will upgrade the family - save it again in the new version and load into your new project

basically like a cut and paste in autocad.take say windows from one file hopefully cut and paste to clip board and then open second file and paste in the same place that they were in before

you can try this, you can go to elevation view > select/pick the window (only) > copy to clipboards > aligned to selected levels and see if helps
