Adding tails, (overhangs), to structural trusses

I'm trying to use structural truss Families for the first time and I'm not seeing how to add a 2' overhang tail on each side. Is there an easy way?

Also not seeing how to adjust pitch. I set the angle parameter to 18.5 degrees for a 4:12 pitch but nothing changed. And the constraints are all greyed out. I need to change the base level.

You need to Unpin if you want expanded access to Parameters.

No adjusting necessary if you place the beams/beams system on a pitched work plane (such as the surface of your roof). The roof should be modeled first.

Problems-

I selected the whole truss in an elevation view and unpinned everything. Nothing changed in the properties dialog. Everything still says pinned. There is no parameter I can see to adjust the tail length, (or pitch). The constraints properties are still greyed out.

I'm using the Howe Gabled truss- 6 Panel

Your properties dialog says dimension lumber 2x4. Mine says Howe Gabled Truss- 6 Panel Standard

I'm gathering from that you built your own custom truss from dimension lumber.

None of my parameters are the same as your illustration.  My constraints are still greyed out. And everything is still pinned.

And, finally, I don't understand how I would apply the truss on a roof to get the associated pitch? I drew my gabled roof at a 4;12 pitch, tried to add a truss after, and it's sitting 8' above where I want it, unable to change the base, (greyed out).

Nope. It's a Howe Truss using Dimension Lumber: 2x4 Structural Faming Type for chords and webs.

Looks exactly like mine. Those are TYPE Properties. I didn't show you any Type Properties in my screenshots above.

OK. I have everything figured out except how to get plumb cuts on the tails and ridge. Is there a setting for this?

No setting. You need to manually cut each. I would do this in an Elevation View with Far Clipping set to "None" and using Cut Geometry and "Multiple" to cut the ends, one by one, back to a Ref. Plane.

Instead of doing it for each truss, tab select the member of one truss, unpin, extend it to a ref plane, then make a group and copy, or array to create the rest.
