Hi,

Has anyone figured out how the Instance(xyz) orientation actually works for adaptive points? you almost never get consistent results when using it. Take this simple example below, where I have a family with 4 adaptive points set to Instance(xyz):

When you load the family in another environment in order to use it, you get unexpected results like in the image bellow, where for some reason the family decides(sometimes..) to change it's Coordinate system

Setting the adaptive points to Always vertical doesn't make the problem any better, you still get weird results in some instances:

The Revit Help states that for Instance(xys) a coordinate system of the adaptive family instance is used.. but if so.. how is this coordinate system calculated? What is it influenced by?! (because in some cases I found that it can be influenced by the Host, or it appears to be, unless Revit makes some assumptions on how this coordinate system should be oriented.. maybe)

Any thoughts? Maybe a Revit developer can shed some light..

same concern. the behavior of adaptive family not just depend on the Orient of Adaptive Point but include the option Always Vertical (checkbox in properties) also. It makes too difficult to understand which one is priority.

It would be great if revit could come up with a specific explanation of the Instance coordinate system.
