About the difference between Floor plans and Ceiling plans

Hi, I have a question about the relationship between floor plan and ceiling plan.

I don't think the two plans are different without a view range.

Why are the two separated? What's the difference?

Floor plans and ceiling plans serve two different purposes. A floor plan shows the layout of floors, walls, doors, windows, appliances, furniture, ... basically elements on the plane where people move around a space.

A ceiling plan shows the layout of all elements above people's heads, such as lighting fixtures, air conditioning ducts and terminals, fire sprinklers, soffits under roofs, ceiling finishes with their heights above finish floor, etc.
