A window that goes in one project...but not another

I am making my own wooden window families for practice (not for an actual job thank god!).  This particular one has been designed for an up market house by a New Zealand architect.

If you put Window Big Slider.rfa into  into the project Point Wells.rvt, it throws up an error.

Yet if you try inserting it into a simpler project, Door in just a Wall.rvt, it works fine (you would  have to delete the one in there first )

The sliding door part ends up slightly outside, and I thought this was my problem, because if I delete the door bit, it does go in OK.

The project Point Wells.rvt is nothing very complicated, except that I did bring in an autocad 3d file....

Any ideas?

I did a quick check. The difference between the two files are the walls. In the point wells file the wall thickness is 170 mm in the other file it is 190 mm.

You will see that if you make the wall thicker (e.g. 190 mm) your family can be placed.

So there are some constraints in your window family that will not allow it to be placed in 'thinner' walls.

You would need to check your big slider family which constrains break when the wall gets thinner or accept that you wll need thicker walls to place this construction.
