3D View Keeps Disappearing

Every time I open my 3D view with the current Phase (New Construction/Existing + New) the model disappears.  It will often disappear when I recreate the view and try to rotate it.  The center isn't off in the ether somewhere - it's at the building.  The 3D view that shows the old Phase (Existing/Show All) is fine and doesn't disappear.
I've deleted and recreated the 3D at least 10 times now.  What am I doing wrong?  It may be fine for a few minutes and then suddenly, I try to click back to the view, or rotate the 3D view that is already open, and it just disappears.  Is it just corrupted?

Do you Crop your 3D view?  Almost sounds like you do.

No. I hate behavior of crop in working 3D view.

...are you saying it happens only in one 3D view? It's not a stretch to think that the view may be corrupted.

...is it a camera view?

It happens only with the view that has the "New Construction" phase, "Show New + Existing" phase filter.  I have tried both creating a new 3D view from scratch and also duplicating the non-problematic "Existing" phase view.  The building will eventually will disappear, however the view was originally created.

Try a Repair.

..."Show New + Existing" phase filter?  Can you post a screenshot of your the Phase Filters and Graphic Overrides tabs in your Phasing dialog (Manage=>Phases)?

Can I do that with Revit LT?

To initiate a Repair, you start an Uninstall through Windows. You'll be prompted with a message asking whether you what to "Uninstall" or "Repair".  Choose "Repair".  But, I'm wondering now about the "Show New + Existing" phase filter. You created that one; right?

No, it was loaded with Revit.  I didn't create any phase filters.

So I should "repair" revit, not the file itself?

It certainly won't hurt anything.  I have to run a Repair periodically.  But, yes; I'm talking about repairing  Revit through Windows (e.g. "Uninstall a Program").

I did an audit and a purge and it seems to be holding for now.  I hope I'm not back with bad news tomorrow!

This is exactly what mine was doing Barth... Merrit describes it perfectly... its like you go to touch the model, and it acts like a cockroach....gone...  Mine's fixed now, but still not sure what I did, but had nothing to do with "repair".  I'd check to see if its happening in another model, or is it just this one.  That would tell you if it's the system, or model specific.

Okay - it's happening again and this time it's affecting my Existing view.  Any suggestions? `

Okay - it's happening again and this time it's affecting my Existing view.  Any suggestions? I can press "ZE" to get it to reappear but the second I try to rotate it disappears again.

3D view, right? See if placing a Center via the View Object Wheel helps.

could it be a void model that was inadvertently stretched out to the horizon... That wouldnt be hard to do unknowingly, and it would mess up the project center.  And you might have trouble spotting it because its void....???

An easy way to find out is sharing the file.

Nope, now the model just doesn't show up at all in 3D, even if I try to Zoom Extents.  How do I share my model for review?

When you reply to this thread next time, add the file as an attachement.  You can also learn how to do a screencast. That is where you can attach a video that actually shows us all what is happening on your screen....  Those two things will help you get the most out of this forum...
